Preheat smoker to 250° F. Use your preferred wood for smoking.
Drain and rinse two cans of beans, pour both cans into a cast iron skillet. Pour the entire third can of beans over top. Stir to combine.
Sprinkle the brown sugar, BBQ sauce, molasses, apple cider vinegar, dried mustard, onion powder, salt and pepper. Stir to combine. Set aside.
Cook bacon in a skillet until beginning to brown. Place the bacon pieces on paper towels to drain. Once cool enough to touch, place the bacon on top of the beans.
Sprinkle a little extra black pepper over top.
Transfer the skillet to the smoker. Cook for 2-3 hours uncovered until bacon is darkened and crispy on top.

Smoked Baked Beans
Serves 8
Ingredients:
3 cans navy beans, 15 oz. each
1/3 cup light brown sugar
2 tablespoons BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons molasses
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon dried mustard
1 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper, more to taste
1/2 lb thick cut bacon, chopped
